Obituary
August 26, 1950 – November 4, 2019
“Keep me in your hearts for a while.” W. Zevon
Steve died on November 4th, 2019, at the age of 69, following a brief but courageous battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and subsequent complications.
He passed away peacefully with his greatest love Cherie and his daughters Heather and Jamie, at his side.
Steve was well known as a writer, rider and racer of motorcycles as well as a car reviewer. But for him the magic of the outdoors, learned early in life at the side of his father, never faded; there was always a new hike to take, another bird or fish to find and another trail or road to discover. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying hiking, swimming and hockey, had recently joined the Maple Ridge Stars softball team, and was also an amateur musician.
Above all, Steve loved his family and is greatly missed by his spouse, Cherie Smith; his daughters Heather Bond of Ontario and Jamie Bond (Justin Malik) and grandsons Justin, Brodie and Deacon of Saskatchewan. Predeceased by his father and mother Leslie and Julia Bond (nee Ticehurst).
Steve will be particularly missed for his enthusiasm and love of life, his wonderful sense of humour and above all, his devotion to and pride in his family.
Steve will be greatly missed by his many friends and other family.
A celebration of Life is planned for Steve in the spring, in Ontario.
