Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert “Bob” Hollingshead at the age of 68 years.
Bob was born and raised in a loving household in Edmonton, AB. He received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Alberta. After many years in Edmonton, Bob moved to Vernon, B.C. where he lived for a few years before settling in Calgary. After graduating, Bob was employed by various investment firms in Edmonton prior to pursuing business opportunities under his own management. These business opportunities led to the beautiful developments of Jarvis Bay Estates in Jarvis Bay, AB and Westpine Estates in Sylvan Lake.
Bob enjoyed being physically active and especially took great joy in the game of golf, and skiing in the Rocky Mountains. His love of travel took him on many trips to the beaches of Maui and Mexico. He loved exploring the culture of Europe, and especially enjoyed taking river cruises. It was the finer things in life that Bob was especially proud of, including his fine art collection and his extensive pursuit of wine for his wine collection.
Bob will be forever remembered for his love of family and friends, his kindness and generosity, and his enduring wisdom and guidance that he provided to so many. He would always assist anyone who he felt needed help without hesitation. The adoption of his precious dog Thelma, who he rescued from the Central Alberta Humane Society in April of 2016, brought Bob much happiness. Bob never asked what he could gain, but what he could give. He made friends in every aspect of his life, and he cherished the time he spent with loved ones. This was very important to Bob. He was a very proud father and an extremely proud grandfather. His time with his children and grandchildren were priceless to him.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Fabio (Cathy) Arboleda, Paola (Juan) Castillo, and Carlos (Jamie) Arboleda; as well as his five grandchildren Sebastian, Andres, Leo, David and Juliana. Also mourning his loss are his siblings, Susan (David) Robson, Diane (Robert Wilson) Hollingshead and Jane (Cameron) Foster. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Betty, and his brother Bill.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 12:00pm at Eden Brook Funeral Home, 24223 Township Rd 242, (the corner of 17 Avenue SW and lower Springbank Road) Calgary, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Central Alberta Humane Society (cahumane.com/support/in-honour-memoriam).
