Obituary
It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Raymond Douglas (Sonny) Thompson, husband if Carole (Mintis) Thompson, which occurred on November 9, 2019, at home in Kanata, ON.
Formerly of Saint John/Quispamsis, Raymond was born in Woodstock, N. B. March 3, 1947. Son of the late Raymond Alexander Thompson and the late Ruby Kathleen (Currie) Thompson. He worked in his early years at Joseph À. Likely. He proudly served 33 years with the Saint John Police Department.
Besides his wife, Carole, he leaves behind his son, Derek (Kelly), daughter, Jennifer (David Palmer), stepsons, Michael (Rosie) and Mark Dorrington. Grandchildren, Liam and Emma Thompson, Peter, Zachary, and Ryan Palmer, step-grandchildren, Max, Jackson, Mya, Emmy, and Macy Dorrington; siblings, Gayle Mosher, Lori (Peter Waller), Philip (Sue), Paul, Randy (Kelley). Also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by sister-in-law, Susan, brother-in-law, Eric Mosher, and niece, Ashley Mosher.
In keeping with Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of Cole Funeral Services, Ottawa, ON. Visitation being held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (506) 646-2424 on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 11 am – 2 pm. Celebration of life to follow in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.
Special thanks to staff at Ottawa hospitals, oncologists, palliative care and the many services that supported Ray during his year plus cancer battle. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of donor’s choosing.
