Obituary of Mike Bastiaansen
Passed away peacefully at home on his farm near Embro, after a brief battle with cancer, on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the age of 76.
Mike was the beloved husband of Leona (Bauman) Bastiaansen. Dear brother of Jos, Jacobus (Joanne), Jacque de Leeuw, Nell (Walter) Dekkers, Jeanne (Taco) Voogt, Christa Bastiaansen, Mariejosé (Marcel) Willems, and brother-in-law of Magda Bastiaansen (Gerrit Van Gils). Lovingly remembered by Leona’s family, Mahlon (Edna) Bauman, Irene Snyder, Abner (Rosalie) Bauman, and Nyle (Kathleen) Bauman. Uncle Mike will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Antonius and Louisa (de Hoon) Bastiaansen, stepfather Antonius Schalk, brother Cor, brothers-in-law Gerhard de Leeuw, Mervin Snyder, and Elmer Bauman, and sister-in-law Josie Bastiaansen.
Mike enjoyed serving with Fellowship of Christian Farmers, sharing his faith in Christ with others. He went on many short-term overseas mission trips. Mike was for years a faithful member and elder of Tavistock Bible Chapel and more recently attended Heidelberg Bible Fellowship.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Wallenstein Bible Chapel, 4522 Herrgott Rd., Wallenstein. Interment will follow in Hawkesville Cemetery.
