Frances Loretta (LeBlanc) Pero

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances Loretta Pero, age 88, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Millville on July 28, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William and Loretta (Jessome) LeBlanc.
Frances worked many jobs throughout her life and made many friends along the way. Some of the places she worked included Thompson & Sutherland, the bowling alley in Sydney Mines, Woolco and Capital Drugs. She was a working woman ahead of her time and she also took pride in maintaining a beautiful home for her and Jimmy. She loved to cook and bake and clean her house and the door was always opened for a cup of tea and a little sweet. Frances loved to visit with family and friends and always enjoyed a game of cards with Jimmy or her sisters.
Frances is survived by a son from a previous marriage, Seymour Kelly. She is also survived by her brothers Percy (Jose’), Montreal and Adrian (Shelly), Strathroy; sisters June (Joe) Kowalski, Groves Point, Gladys (John) Morris , Salisbury, Rosalie (Wayne) Carey, Millville, Madonna MacIntyre, Vernon BC., Marlene Boudreau, Sydney Mines and Linda (Pat) Marsh, Hammonds Plains; sisters-in-law, Carmella LeBlanc, Florence , Rebecca “Bunnie” DiPersio, Sydney Mines, and Elva King, Watertown, Mass. Frances also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews who loved her dearly.
Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Jimmy Pero, in September 2019, after 48 years of marriage. She was predeceased by brothers, Gordon (Carmella), John and Elmer; sisters, Theresa (Cecil) LeBlanc and Hilda (Dave) Jabalee. Also predeceased by her father and mother- in- law John and Rebecca Pero as well as by brothers-in-law Dennis Gates, William “Dick”, Alex, Ray, Lorne, Basil and Jack Pero along with Hector DiPersio, Cas Coady, Jim Ivey, Leroy Moore and David King, and sisters- in- law, May Ivey, Millie Coady and Eileen Moore.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the devoted and compassionate staff of 5 East and 4 West at the Northside General Hospital as well as Dr. Michel McKeough and Louise.
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northside General Hospital Foundation or the Holy Family Cemetery fund.
