David George Norrie, of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 7, 2019. David was born in Dundee, Scotland on May 19, 1926. His family immigrated to Kitchener, Ontario when David was 3 months old.
David joined Arrow shirt factory in Kitchener in 1943 as a sewing machine maintenance member. After a brief period with the Canadian Army he returned to the company. In 1946 he was transferred to Stratford (where he met the love of his love Sheila) while working on the mechanical end of the Arrow plant there. Later he was appointed a supervisor and in August 1963 was appointed to plant superintendent. When Arrow shirts closed in Stratford, Ontario, he commuted back and forth to the Arrow shirt company in Kitchener where he held positions of head designer and factory store manager for both Kitchener and Hamilton stores. He also had a stint as plant manager of Van Raalte (woman’s lingerie division) in London (commuting once again every day from Stratford) when Cluett & Peabody purchased it and needed a manager to step in to get things running as they required. David retired from Arrow in 1988 after spending his entire working life with the same company.
