Mom passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on October 25, 2019 at the age of 91. She is predeceased by Ken, her beloved husband of 56 years, her parents Hilda and Charles Pendray, brother Wilf Pendray, sister Doreen Richardson and son in-law Clyde Dougans. Mom is dearly missed by her 5 children: Jim (Joyce Simmons), Bob (Sheila Riddle), Dave (Wendy Mickey), Joy Dougans, and Ruth (Mike) Stobbe, by her brother John Pendray, brother in-law Bryan (Sylvia) Burkinshaw. She was the proud Grandma to 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Victoria B.C. in 1928 and married Ken in 1950. They lived in Vancouver, Dawson Creek, West Vancouver, Hope and Abbotsford.
Mom was a Registered Nurse until her children were born, when she stayed home providing a stable loving home for her family and supporting Dad throughout all their adventures. Mom’s steady Christian faith was expressed in practical love to so many.
Mom enjoyed spending time exploring the backroads, mountains and lakes of B.C. and visiting family with Dad in their R.V., tending her flower gardens, and watching birds. Soon after Dad passed Mom moved to Stony Plain, Alberta where she lived with Mike and Ruth and spent many hours reading to her youngest grandchildren.
A service of celebration will be held Tuesday, November 12th, 1 pm at Abbotsford Baptist Church, 33651 Busby St. Abbotsford. For those wishing to donate, a memorial scholarship has been established in Mom and Dad’s name at Trinity Western University, Langley, B.C.
