It is with great sadness that the family of John (Jack) Finlay announce his passing on November 24th, 2019.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Verna, daughters Gloria (Ian) DeWitt and Bonnie (Gordon) Tjader; grandchildren Michelle, Ryan, Kyle (Michelle) Kaylee (Bryce) and Kaitlyn (Nathan). He also leaves great grandchildren Braeden, Mersadie, Paisleigh, Chevelle, Kaden and Mataya and his sisters Maxine and Alice.
He was predeceased by his daughter Julie, son in law Bernnie, grandson Tyler, great grandson Nathen, brothers Bill and Doug and sisters Jean and Ellen.
Dad was a hard-working family man and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had a gruff exterior but a heart of gold. He loved the outdoors and spent summers camping with his kids and grandkids. Ice cream treats at McDonalds were a weekend tradition. He and Mom could also be found driving through the bush in search of wildlife. Later years were spent touring in the motorhome, stopping at every flea market so Mom could find treasures, and wintering in Arizona with their friends. In his retirement he became a great cook and his apple pies were a special treat. Dad taught himself to use the computer and made many video memories for the family. He also taught himself to play the guitar but couldn’t sing along to his songs as he could never remember the words. His many entertaining stories and his great sense of humour will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Dr Behrens for his excellent care and the palliative care aides for their invaluable help over the last year.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 AM at the Trail Alliance Church with Pastor Andrew Martens officiating. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de John Jack William Finlay November 24th 2019..
