Following a courageous battle with cancer, Susan passed away peacefully at home on October 19th 2019, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Beausejour, Manitoba, on November 28, 1957, to Frank and Nellie Michalow. Susan is survived by her husband Dave; her daughter Riley and son-in-law Stephen Joudoin; her mother-in-law Denise Shaw; her sisters Deborah Kozusko (Doug), Sandra Wright (Richard), and her brother Ronald Michalow; her sister-in-law Kelly Shaw (Geoff McVey) and brother-in-law Tom Shaw; as well as her adored nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, father-in-law Ken Shaw, and sister-in-law Pat Michalow.
For 30 years, Susan was a business partner of Alan Brown’s Clothing. She was also a founding director of Brockville-based charity Canadian Aid for Chernobyl, and opened her heart and home to several Belarusian children. She never missed an opportunity to be with family, whether near or far. Her wisdom, humour, comfort, patience, and friendship will be treasured and greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Susan’s life on Wednesday, October 23rd from 3-7pm at the Irvine Reception Centre, 4 James St. E., Brockville. In lieu of flowers, at Susan’s request, memorial donations will be gratefully appreciated to Canadian Aid for Chernobyl or a charity of your choice.
