Obituary for
Stanislaw Markowski
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stanislaw Markowski, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the age of 96 years in Edmonton with his family by his side.
Stanislaw was born March 19, 1923 in Zalucze, Sniatyn, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1962 where he made Edmonton his home.
Stanislaw was hardworking. He worked at IPSCO and Great West Steel as a Pressure B Welder and retired in 1985. He loved fishing, boating and tinkering in his garage. He and his wife Weronika, both enjoyed adventure and would take off at weekends in their motorhome to meet up with friends at various lakes.
Stanislaw will be sadly missed by his five children, Stefan, Maryla Hasek (Mark), Jasha Skousbol (Bent), Ella and Joseph; his beloved grandchildren, Peter (Carmen), Robert (Kelsey), Doris, Tina (Tyler), Christofer (Sarah), David, Ashley, Mark and Sheridean; his great-grandchildren, Luke, Karl, Anya, Amelia, Abbie, April, Zosia, Lucyna, Annabelle, Naomi, Matthew and Madison.
A Viewing will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. one hour prior to the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 11485 – 106 Street, Edmonton. Reverend Mieczyslaw Burdzy OMI officiating with interment to follow at Beechmount Cemetery, 12420 – 104 Street. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Polish Humanitarian Society.
