Mr. Ronald Shepley
SHEPLEY, Ronald Lloyd – passed away on Tuesday October 1st, 2019, in his 82nd year, surrounded by all of his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Ron was born in Chatham, Ontario on March 18th, 1937, the son of the late William and Nettie Shepley (nee Merritt). Ron is the beloved husband of Audrey (nee Strain) for 61 years. Loving father of Bart and Nancy (nee Wieringa) of Chatham, Bret and Lori (Crawford) of Tobermory, and Brad and Colette of Windsor. Adored grandfather of Jessica, Joshua, Zachary, Brittany, Brooks, Bowe, and Kianna and great grandfather to Andrew, Adair, Griffin and Cooper. He is survived by sisters Patricia Gillett, Judith Cumming, brother Jerry, and stepsisters Catherine and Caroline. Predeceased by his brother William Jr., brothers-in-law Bud Gillett, and Gary Cumming, and stepfather Howard Counter. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers –in-law. Ron was an active member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church, serving on several teams and willing to help whenever he was needed. He was an active worker in Chatham Minor Hockey and the OMHA/K.M.H.A. hockey for over 60 years. As a player he was drafted by the Guelph Biltmore Jr. A Hockey Team in 1955. He coached Travel teams for ten years, was Registrar for twelve years, and Contact Person for twenty-eight years. He was awarded the Lloyd Davidson Award twice, in 1990-91 and 1975-76, for contributing the most to Chatham Minor Hockey. He received a Life Membership Award for dedication to C.M.H.A./K.M.H.A. The family wishes to thank Dr. Huffman of Chatham, Dr. Poutler of St. Joseph Hospital in London, and the staff of the Chatham–Kent Health Alliance for their loving care during these difficult weeks. Family and friends are invited to St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 450 Park Ave. West, Chatham, on Friday October 4th, 2019 with visiting from 11 am to 1 pm., with a memorial service to follow at 1 pm. with Pastor Pete Maddocks officiating.
