“A mother and a daughter always share a special bond, which is engraved on their hearts.”
Nieves Brister of Pincher Creek, AB, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the age of 81 years.
She was born December 6, 1938, in Edmonton, AB, and grew up on the family ranch near Pincher Creek. She married Robert Lawrence (Bob) Brister in 1969 after first meeting in Hawaii. Nieves was predeceased by Bob in 2012, followed by her much-loved daughter, Joy Ann Skierka, in September 2019.
Some might say she died of a broken heart.
Nieves is survived by her son-in-law, Tom Skierka, and her grandchildren, Trentan, Shannon (Taliesen Tupper), Allison (Nav Dhaliwal), Jaclyn (Andrew Carney), and Frank, as well as close relatives and dear friends. A special thank you to Jack and Clara Skierka who helped with her care for many years.
Nieves will be remembered for her wonderful hugs and infectious laugh.
She is preceded in death by her father Alphie Primeau, mother Alice (Riviere) Primeau, and brothers Doug Primeau and Jim Primeau.
Nieves’ Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Pincher Creek, (958 Christie Ave, Pincher Creek)
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Vista Village for their long-term care and support.
