Michael enjoyed a successful career in fashion and photographic modelling in the 1970’s / 80’s and appeared in many magazines, advertisements, live runway shows and multiple national mail order catalogues.
He retired in 2016 following a second career in human resources, administration and employee recruitment/placement for several government and municipal agencies in Hamilton and Guelph.
He was an avid gardener, landscaper, loved country living, winter holidays in Cuba and home life. Over his lifetime he bred, trained and showed his prize horses Sheba and Blue in local, provincial and national competition. During the 1980’s he auditioned for Canada’s Olympic Games Equestrian-Dressage Team, in the preliminary selection process. In the same decade Michael travelled to England with his champion horse as part of the Canadian contingent to demonstrate their team discipline skills in dressage at a horse show in London. Following this event, he was invited to ride side by side with HRH Anne, Princess Royal at a separate leisure equestrian outing. He and Sheba were also used as a stand-in for a famous actor on horseback, in a Hollywood film production shot on location in the Niagara Region.
Michael was a very generous, giving and caring person to all who knew him. He was also a joker and maintained a unique and quirky sense of humour, always full of surprises to those who were closest to him socially. Michael had a reputation for leaving magnificently wrapped gifts “anonymously” on his friends’ doorsteps at Christmas and on their individual birthdays. He will be sadly missed as he touched so many lives.
A quiet celebration of life has already taken place at his residence on August 29th conducted by Paul Bates, Deacon at Grace Anglican Church.
In addition, a solemn regular Mass (Non Requiem and open to the public) will be celebrated in Michael’s memory on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 9 a.m. in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Fiddler’s Green Road at Wilson Street, Ancaster, Ontario by Fr. Wayne Lobsinger.
May he rest in peace and be remembered in your prayers.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Michael George Paul Kuzyk..
