Loriana Arkin (Aucoin) – 1934 – 2019
Passed away peacefully at the George Dumont Hospital on Wednesday
September 18, 2019 at the age of 85.
Born February 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late
Placide Aucoin and the late Eloise Aucoin. She is survived
by her children: Alexina Zabary (Steve) of Edmonton, Robert Arkin
(Paula) of Halifax, and by two sisters: Germaine Stewart of Moncton
and Nora Given of Portland, Maine.
She was predeceased by her three sisters: Lumina Bourgoin,
Eloise Porter and Alexina Hibbert, and by brothers Elie Aucoin, Pete
Wedge, Romeo Wedge and Roger Wedge.
She leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Julie Zabary and Craig
Zabary of Edmonton, Siobhan Hogg (Brent) of Calgary, and Jeff Arkin,
Nathalie Arkin, Jamie Arkin, each of Halifax.
Laura spent the last few years living in Dieppe at Auberge du
Soleil Seniors Facility. Prior to that she lived in Miramichi, New
Brunswick, after spending her working career in Calgary. She spent
some of her younger years in Churchill Falls, Newfoundland and
Labrador.
Loriana will be greatly missed by all whom she spent her time
with, but especially her loving grandchildren who will miss her goofy
sense of humor, continuous selflessness, kind heart, loving smile, and
reliable response of being « not too bad », when asked
how she was. They will forever cherish the memories she has
shared with them during childhood and into adulthood.
Loriana’s family would like to thank all of her
friends and family who were so supportive during her
illness. We would particularly like to acknowledge Tracy
McLaughlin and Connie Stewart for being with Loriana during her final
hours, and Connie for all of the love and support she provided to
Loriana over the past few years.
A celebration of Loriana’s life will be scheduled
in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the Canadian Cancer Society www.cancer.ca.
