Harold Horsman
Harold
Horsman
Harold Cecil Horsman of Dundas, passed
away peacefully at his residence on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the age
of 70 years old after a very courageous battle with
cancer.
Born in Moncton, Harold was the eldest
son of the late Alan and Edith (Fram)
Horsman.
Harold will be sadly missed by his
wife of 47 years, Sheila (Smith); daughter Cara Dawn Horsman (Allan);
son Hal William Horsman (Tammy); grandchildren Hayden, Layne, Chloe,
Taylor and Owen; brothers Allison (Brenda), Wayne (Heather), Lloyd
(Patricia) and Douglas (Kathy) along with many nieces and nephews;
special friends Gary McConnell (Joan), Lloyd Thurrott (Liz) and Darren
Hubbard.
Harold was skilled in many trades and
worked in different roles in his earlier years, but first and foremost
he was a farmer. Self-employment was important to Harold as
it allowed him to make his own hours and have time for
‘networking’ as he called it. And so was
born, Lazy H Farm, which he and his wife Sheila co-owned and operated
for 47 years.
Harold was a very active member of the
SENB Wood Marketing Board for several years in many different roles.
He donated several hours to the Irishtown Softball Group and
was proud to have managed his own team, the Trafalgar Titans, for ten
years. The upkeep of local cemeteries was very important to
him and he rallied many for annual maintenance and fundraising
efforts.
His past times included watching the
Leafs and the Blue Jays, socializing, drinking tea and eating ginger
snaps. Politics and genealogy were important to him and he loved
playing 200 at the Magnetic Hill Lions Club where he made many good
friends. Harold could go in to a room of strangers and come
out knowing everyone’s history and who they were related
to. He loved getting to know people and most often would
have a nick name for you. He was proud to have many friends,
young and old. He was also very proud of his children and
grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them, especially at
Christmas which he made special for all of
us.
Dundas will not be the same without
you Dad, you will be missed by so many. You’ve
done your job and we will be ok.
