Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson (nee Thompson)
“We do not grieve as those who have no hope” (1 Thess 4:13) for we know that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). Therefore, it is with saddened, yet hope-filled hearts, that we announce the passing of a dear lady who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Elizabeth Wilson entered the presence of her Lord on the morning of Saturday, October 5, 2019.
Betty was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Earl Wilson for 52 years. She will always be “Mom” to Kerry Anne Green (David), Pauline Black (Joel), Julaine Artimisi (Tony), Phillip Wilson (Jennifer) and Charlene Currie (Eric). She holds a special place in the hearts of her 15 grandchildren, Jesse, Dana, Kamryn, Isaiah, Avril, James, Lucas, Levi, Olivia, Alyssa, MacKenzie, Brayden, Riley, Adebe, Jerusalem, Jacob.
The only daughter of Dwight and Ola Thompson, Betty was born and raised in Shawville. At 18 years of age, she attended business college in Ottawa, followed by her years of study at Miller Memorial Bible Institute in Saskatchewan. After returning to Shawville in 2005, Betty was employed for ten years as a sitter/caretaker at Pontiac Community Hospital where she brought smiles and comfort to countless patients and their families. A member of New Hope Christian Fellowship, Betty was involved in many different areas of service over the years and was always grateful for the opportunity to volunteer alongside her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec, on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. as well as Friday, October 11, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 in New Hope Christian Fellowship, Shawville, Quebec at 11 a.m. Interment Radford United cemetery.
