Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Sakatch
July 28, 1944 ~ October 19, 2019
Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Sakatch nee Hemmaway passed peacefully Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Claresholm General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born July 28, 1944 in Claresholm, AB to Nancy and Harry Hemmaway. The eldest of two children, Betty spent her early years working on the family farm. As a young adult, she went to Lethbridge to get her education as an LPN.
Soon after Betty married and had two sons, Roy and Glen, and spent many years as a wife and mother. She later returned to nursing and worked in both homecare and the auxiliary.
Betty cared for her patients like she would her own family and was greatly missed when her health forced her to retire. Although, she faced a number of health struggles, Betty loved her family, working in her garden, old movies and singing with the ladies at the hospital, church and auxiliary.
She is survived by her son Glen White, granddaughters Melissa and Jessica White, and her brother Earl Hemmaway (Diane).
She has passed into the loving arms of her husband Steve Sakatch, her son Roy White and her parents Nancy and Harry Hemmaway.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held at the Claresholm United Church – 4803 2 St W, Claresholm, Alberta on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
