Doris Elizabeth Washburn, widow of Blair Washburn, passed away at her residence, Losier Hall, with her children by her side on Thursday, October 24th, 2019 at the age of 89. Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Lillian (Trevors) Dickson. She was employed at Brennans Jewelry (later Roberts Jewelry), and a member of Saint Michael’s and the Santa Maria. Doris loved her family dearly and enjoyed having dinners at her home and family gatherings at the cottage on Washburn’s beach. She also enjoyed Bingo at the Knights of Columbus and playing a weekly game of cards with her friends for over 50 years. Doris is survived by her children: Don (Lynda) Washburn, Betty Ann (John) Colepaugh of Miramichi, Mike (Kim) Washburn of New Glasgow, NS; as well as her grandchildren whom she was so proud of: Lisa (Matthew), Emily (Bill), Evan (Hilary), Christine( Germain), Laura, Brianne, Ryan, Erin; great grandchildren: Luke, Lily, Cole, Everett, George and Winifred, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband Blair, Doris was predeceased by brothers: Harold, Douglas, William; and sisters: Lyla King, Jean Phee, and Heloise Lebail. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the exceptional staff of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home and Losier Hall for the outstanding care Mom received throughout the years. Doris Elizabeth Washburn is resting at Maher’s Funeral Home, Miramichi with visitation on Sunday, October 27th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 28th at 11:00am at Saint Michael’s Basilica with Father John Keoughan officiating with internment to immediately follow in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to the Alzheimer’s society, or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. « Life has changed; not ended. »
