Audrey Mae Russell
1927-2019
Audrey Mae Russell – 92, of Berwick,
passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, October 12, 2019
in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Williamstown, NB,
she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Nancy (Sherrard) Hill.
Together with her late husband, she co-owned and operated
Stedman’s Department Stores in Berwick and Kingston from
1970-1986. She was a member of the Berwick United Church and had been
active with the UCW. She was an avid card player, especially bridge,
and she enjoyed needlework. Over the years, she lived and worked in
Newcastle, NB; Wingham and Aylmer, ON; Middleton, NS; Guelph, ON and
Berwick, NS, from where she retired. She is survived by daughters,
Joan (Lindsay) Rand, Delhaven; Lynn (Darrell) Ferguson, Coldbrook; Ann
(Dr. Chris) Petropolis, Bedford; son, Earl (Alice) Russell, Berwick;
grandchildren, Wesley (Carrie) Rand, Emily Rand (Reid Smith) and
Elaine (Travis) Young; Breagh (Vince) Di Carlo and Kevin (Katherine)
Ferguson; Shane Russell (Ashley Hong); Arielle, Theo, Zachary and Alex
Petropolis; nine great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She
was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was
predeceased by her husband, Wylie Russell; an infant daughter, Karen
Ann; two sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Fred MacTavish) and Elsie (Mrs. Harold
Smith); two brothers, Delbert and Buddy Hill. Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, by request. A private family
burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. A service in
celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Friday, October 18, 2019 in the Berwick United Church, Reverend Tom
Woods officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
