Alfred’s Obituary
Rose, Alfred Gordon- It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alfred Gordon Rose on October 27, 2019 at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Alfred was born August 29, 1933 to Clarence and Leola ( Purcell) Rose, in Lockeport. He spent the majority of his life in Lockeport where he met and married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth (Kerr) when she came to Lockeport to teach. Alfred worked at Mackenzie’s general store as a young man, leaving there to work for the NSLC from which he retired. Together they made a wonderful life and raised their daughter Linda, before moving to Bridgewater after the birth of their cherished grandson Tyler. Alfred loved rooting for his beloved Boston Red Sox, bowling, playing badminton, poker, crib, and walking the beach in Lockeport. Alfred was predeceased by parents Clarence and (Margaret) Leola (Purcell), wife Mary, sister Beatrice, brothers Buster (Francis), Grant (Norman), and Keith. He is survived and dearly missed by his daughter Linda (MacIntosh), son in-law Philip, grandson Tyler; sister Audrey (Stokes), brother in-law William “Bill” Stokes, as well as nieces, Beatrice, Evelyn, Peggy and Janice; nephews, Stephen Terry) and Brian Kerr. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, or to Palliative Care Services, Bridgewater. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 2 at 1pm at the United Baptist Church in Lockeport with Pastor Tim Garren officiating. You may sign the guest book at www.huskilson.net
