Jake Harder
October 14, 1922 – October 1, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jake passed peacefully into the loving hands of his heavenly Father just 13 days short of his 97th birthday on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Jake was pre-deceased by his dear wife Sarah in 2013 and his son Jim in 2014. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Ron (Betty Ann) Harder, Julie Harder, Sharon (Scott) Weir, Bob (Shelley) Harder; 13 grandchildren, Michelle (Glenn), Danielle (Dave), Barton, Kimberley (Dave), Tara (Scott), Julie, Jessica (Jason), Jordan, Graham (Christine), Shauna (Curtis), Lisa (Vern), Ashley (Mitch) and Ryan (Kaitlyn) and 24 great-grandchildren. Dad is also survived by eleven siblings. Dad was born in the Hague area to C.P. and Agatha Harder. On August 24, 1947 Dad married the love of his life, Sarah, in Aberdeen, SK. Dad worked hard to provide a stable home for his family. He spent 37 years working for the City of Saskatoon as Foreman of the asphalt plants. He and Mom worked together in their ministry of Sign Evangelism and later Inter-Church Fellowship for 37 years. After Dad’s retirement, he and Mom enjoyed travelling together. Their most memorable trip was to Europe with several friends. Many great memories were made on that trip. In 1999 Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s which irrevocably altered their lives. Dad was a devoted caregiver to Mom and even though it was a hardship for him, his love for her shone through. Dad’s final 7 years were spent as a resident of Oliver Lodge where he was cared for by an amazing group of dedicated care-givers on second floor. Oliver Lodge truly provided a caring and loving home for Dad. Sadly, Dad never recovered from the loss of Mom which made his final years difficult. He will be fondly remembered for his love and devotion to his family. We would like to thank the dedicated team at Oliver Lodge for the love and support they provided Dad. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7:00 PM at Martens Warman Funeral Home. The celebration of Dad’s life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Lawson Heights Alliance Church, 159 Pinehouse Drive, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Jake Harder..
