Stuart Albert Douglas of Lakelet, passed away at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in his 96th year.
Husband of the late Anna (Ellis) Douglas.
Father of Gary and Kathy Douglas of Clifford, Marion Douglas of Calgary, Peter and Joanne Douglas of Walkerton, and Stephen and Jan Douglas of Lakelet.
Remembered by his grandchildren Nathan Douglas and Tammie Simmons, Matthew and Ashley Douglas, Megan Douglas and Steve Gillett, Carla Himmelman, Eric Himmelman and Monica, Christopher Douglas and Shauna Rivest, Anthony and Marie Douglas, Jill Sadowski, and Ben and Stephanie Douglas; and by his great-grandchildren Allanna, Rachael, Owen, Hailey, Kaelyn, Quinn, Reid, James, Paige, Sadie, Jack, and Bridgette.
Brother-in-law of Lorna Greenwood of Orangeville and Betty Ellis of Dorchester.
Predeceased by his siblings John Douglas, Harvey Douglas, Orville Douglas, Edna Shortill, and Laura Wright.
Stuart was born in Howick Township on August 17, 1924, the youngest son of Frank and Annie Douglas. He married Anna Ellis in 1948, and they farmed in Howick Township until 1978, selling the farm to their sons Peter and Gary. He was the Clifford Arena manager for a number of years. He spent many hours in his wood-working shop, and devoted much time to his community through Rotary, council, school board, North-Wellington Co-op and Conservation Authority
Friends may call at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home, Harriston, on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Knox United Church, Clifford on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. Arthur Hiley officiating.
Interment in Lakelet Cemetery.
