William Richard Hoag
January 2, 1957-September 11, 2019
With heavy hearts we share the sorrow of the sudden passing of William Richard Hoag. He was a devoted family man always willing to help anyone and everyone. The love of his life was his family and especially his grandchildren. He battled many challenges with his illness over the years and always won until now. He never lived his life with his illness but always in spite of his illness.
Survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Laurie (Robin), son Trevor (Stephanie), sister Brenda (Jim), brother Neil (Sheila), Mother and Father in Law Hector and Mary Beth Leduc, brothers-in-law James (Lisa) and Bill Leduc. A wonderful Grandpa to Timothy, Jesse, Sophie, and Tessa. Special uncle to Jade, Chelsea, Tyler, Ryan, Grant, Kirk, Mallory, and Russell. Great uncle to Ashlynn, Sienna, Casen, Colin, Benjamin, and Owen. Special cousins Sandra and Francis. Special aunt Karen with Kirstii and Liisa. Predeceased by his parents George and Kaarina (Niemi). A very special thank you to his other caregiver, Laurie V.
He will be missed on Bright Lake (Iron Bridge) riding around on his scooter checking out the boat launch, fishing on the pontoon boat and visiting with neighbours. Richard attended the Parkinson’s Exercise group twice a week and had many, many friends there.
He was a man who never gave up. His sense of humour carried him through his challenges. He had such a strong will to live and would try to work at something every day of his life. He cherished being alive. He will be sadly missed in a lot of ways.

A celebration of his life will be held on September 18, 2019 starting at 4pm with a service to follow at 7pm with refreshments afterwards at the Lougheed Funeral Home, Hanmer/Capreol Chapel, 4605 Michelle Drive, Hanmer. Private Interment to follow.
