Obituary for
Thomas Douglas Lycan
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doug at Capital Care Dickinsfield after several serious health challenges borne with patience and fortitude.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Sophie; his daughters, Wendy (Peter) Galloway and Shelley (Pat McPhee); grandchildren, David, Patrick, Megan Galloway and Robyn McPhee; his siblings, Eleanor Hansen, Barbara (Mike) Kalita, Allan (Ethel) Lycan and their families and other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Eva; and numerous other relatives.
Our thanks go out to the staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Capital Care Dickinsfield for their valuable care of Doug, as well as a special nod to staff at the Kipnes Day Program for the spirit of inclusion and camaraderie that infused their activities.
Funeral Service Friday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. at McClure United Church, 13708 – 74 Street, Edmonton with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Private family interment at Little Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, Day Program, 4470 McCrae Avenue, NW, Edmonton, AB T5E 6M8 or Shepherd’s Care Kensington, 12603 – 135 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5L 5B2.
