Roselyn Mathilda Byrtus, 1929-2019, passed away peacefully in Edmonton on September 4.
She grew up among a large family in Athabasca and became a teacher and chemist. She strove for a higher education at a time when women did not, and thereby is an inspiration to all women. Roselyn struggled with schizophrenia from her early 30’s till her death. She is survived by her sisters Anne Walsh and Gertrude Grieve and her brother George Byrtus as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Roselyn will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011- 114 Street, Edmonton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta.
