PORTER, Ernest Ralph
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of a truly wonderful and accomplished man on September 15, 2019 in Guelph, Ontario at the age of 88.
He was the beloved husband and partner to Mary Evelyn Porter for 62 years and the devoted and much loved father to daughter Rhonda Porter and son Roy Porter.
A grandfather (Papap) to his two grandchildren Kyle and Morgan who brought untold joy to his life.
Ralph was born in Montreal on November 12, 1930 to Wilfred Royston Porter and Hilda Myerscough. He is survived by his brother John (Colette) Porter and predeceased by brothers Ken (Marie), Ron and George Porter.
He will be missed by his Brothers’ in law Daniel, William (Bud) and Victor Wells and their families and by his many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by Bruce, Jamie and Kenny Porter.
Ralph was a Korean War veteran, entrepreneur and passionate sports enthusiast. He spent his career working in the airfreight transportation industry founding his own business at the age of 50. His success was built on hard work, honesty and integrity. The cornerstones of his life.
Ralph will long be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, wit and charm.
His smile and laughter will be forever carried in the hearts of those who loved and knew him.
His loss will be felt by his cherished friends and family in Montreal, Guelph and around the world.
Family and friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 2-4 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 1 pm. Cremation to follow.
