Margaret Jean Frederick
Jean passed away September 19, 2019, age 84 at the “The Farmhouse”, surrounded by her family, due to complications from cancer. She was the only daughter of Dr. John C and Dorothy Acker of Halifax. She is survived by three sons, Robert William, Hantsport, Peter Charles, Tantallon, and Scott Alexander (Tammy), Glen Haven. A brother, John (Rosalee), Saint John, NB. She was a retired R.N. from the Victoria General School of Nursing, graduating class of 1957. Jean has two grandsons, Zackery (Alicia), and Alex, three granddaughters, Laura, Amelia, and Lyla, and three great-grandsons, Mitchell, Corbin and Quinn. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes, as well as well as spending time with family and friends and a glass of wine at her beach. One of her joys was ringing hand bells at Bethany United church, where she rang them for 30 years. She was an avid ukulele player, having played in an adult ensemble for quite a few years, and taught ukulele for 20 years. She enjoyed baking, reading, Crosswords and Sudoku. She volunteered for many years for the Heart & Stroke Foundation and as a “cuddler” at the Grace Maternity Hospital. Jean was predeceased by her husband Allan C Frederick. Visitations will be held 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm–8:00pm Thursday, September 26th, 2019, in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Road, Upper Tantallon, Funeral to be held at 4:00pm Friday, September 27th, 2019, at Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Ave. Halifax. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
