Lawrence was born on the family farm in Winchester Springs where he spent the 88 years of his life. He was the cherished husband of Margaret (nee McIntosh), loving father of twin daughters Laura (Perry) and Linda (Cal), dear grandfather of twin grandsons Jaye and Ian and brother of Cyril (Nelly) and Warren (Helen).
Lawrence met Marg, the love of his life, standing in line at the theater in Williamsburg. They shared 61 years of love, hard work and play. Lawrence operated a thriving dairy farm, a backhoe business and a cash crop farm all while living everyday to its fullest.
Lawrence was happiest outside, whether hunting, fishing or simply being in the bush or walking out the lane. He loved animals and found the greatest joy in the smallest things. He brought his adventures to life with great stories of being in the wilderness all over Canada and instilled a passion for the outdoors in the rest of the family.
When he was not busy with the farm Lawrence designed and built his cottage, bought and flew an airplane and square danced for many years. Lawrence had a special talent for making people feel comfortable and relaxed. Just being around him was a lot of fun. He was always ready for a good time and was never afraid to make stuff happen. Any problem would be solved with ingenuity and some bailer twine.
The family would like to thank Lawrence’s special neighbours Frances and Larry Wesley for all they have done for them.
A celebration of Lawrence’s life will be held at the Chesterville Legion on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 from 1 to 4 pm.
