The family of Elizabeth Anne (Conrad) Fickes 72, announces her passing on Thursday, September 12, 2019 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
She was born in Dawson Memorial Hospital on January 19, 1947 to the late Walter and Ruth (Lohnes) Conrad of East LaHave.
After high school she attended Bridgewater Commercial School. Elizabeth then worked in Halifax for the Nova Scotia Provincial Government Motor Vehicle Inspection Division and the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission as a private secretary to the property manager. In 1973 she resigned to take care of her young family.
Elizabeth also worked for ten years at DeMone’s Monuments in Lunenburg as well as volunteering at South Shore Regional Hospital for 17 years.
In earlier years, she attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, fitness classes and her many “furry friends”.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons Colin and Christopher (Sarah), their father Jackson Fickes, Martins River, grandchildren Logan and Victoria Elizabeth, her brother Robert (Faye), Halifax, nieces and nephew, Nicole, Kimberly and Matthew. She was predeceased by her companion Gregory DeMone and her parents Walter and Ruth Conrad.
Funeral arrangements are with Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. a private family burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
