Doug passed away on Sunday, September 8th, 2019 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Doug is survived by his wife Veronica, his children, Mike (Tammy), Marcie (Darcy), Trevor (Karen), Kyle (Shawna), Veronica’s daughters, Serena (Douglas), Mona (Merv), grandchildren; Matt (Jenna), Stephanie (Brandin), Tyler (Whitney), Jeff (Krystina), Chanelle (Mitch), Shelby
(Adam), Taylor (Seth), Colin (Shirley), Rhett (Megan), Emma Rae, five great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Joyce (Hans) Soderstrom, Patsy Dunn, and numerous nieces and nephews and a life time of friends.
Doug was born in Drumheller and raised on the family farm and spent his entire life farming in the Churchill community. He was actively involved over the years in the community especially with Minor Hockey and the Kinsmen/K40 Club. Dad’s passion was putting in a hard days work and being surrounded by family and friends. His pride and joy were watching his grandchildren and now great grandchildren grow and share his wisdom.
Doug was predeceased by his parents; Frode and Phyllis, his brother Melvin and sister Ellen.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Badlands Community Facility in halls A B C, with Pastor Dan Hendrickson officiating.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Drumheller Area Health Foundation (Palliative Care or Community Cancer Clinic). Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
