Obituary of Donna Pearl Henderson
Donna Pearl Henderson
(nee Freese)
April 24, 1938 – September 21, 2019
Beloved wife, constant companion and Ron’s best friend, Donna was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday as a result of a ruptured aneurysm.
Donna grew up in Stratford and Kitchener, raised by her mother, Patricia and grandmother, Mary Pearl Fraser.
In 1959 she married a young military man from Waterloo, Signalman Ronald Henderson. Although she knew nothing of military life, she adapted quickly to the new routine, grew to expect, and almost enjoy, the many moves, disruptions and absences while Ron was away on course or isolated postings to Alert. No matter the posting, east coast, west coast or somewhere between, including the Northwest Territories, Donna quickly made the new location a home for her family. To her, family was everything.
They returned to Kingston in 1981 where they decided to make their final home. As she did throughout her life, Donna found ways of giving back to her community by volunteering her time and talent. Most recently with the Kingston Branch of the Canadian Red Cross and the Kingston and District Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees.
Predeceased by her mother and grandmother. Survived by her loving husband Ron and her beloved children Randy and Jennifer.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations to the Kingston Humane Society, 1 Binnington Ct., Kingston, ON. K7M 8M9 or the Alzheimer Society of Kingston, 400 Elliott Ave., Kingston, ON K7K 6M9, will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
