Donald’s Obituary
Donald Andrew Gall passed away at the Peace River Hospital on September 21, 2019 at the age of 65 following a heart attack. He was a lifelong resident of Nampa and was born in Peace River on November 15, 1953.
Family was very important to Don, followed closely by his love for the family farm. If he wasn’t running machinery, he was fixing them or shopping for new ones. Crop checking was a critical function around the farm which often ended in Nampa at the Seed cleaning plant or Bumper to Bumper for coffee. When winter blew in he would load up his tools and truck to head for the bush to work as a heavy duty mechanic with a logging crew. For many years he would head to Grande Prairie on the July 1 long weekend to attend Bud Country, an outdoor country music festival. The TV was his favorite form of entertainment with the News, NCIS and sports(hockey, curling and baseball) being the go-to channels. The arrival of Grandchildren in 2012 taught him how to « play with kids » and following his stroke rehab in 2016 he acquired some new loves- swimming, aqua aerobics, boating and fishing. The lot in Canyon Creek became his paradise; a place where he could fully relax and enjoy being alive.
Don has been reunited with: his grandparents, Andrew Sr. and Zofia Gall, Frank and Cecilia Vitanovec; his parents, Andrew Jr and Clema Gall; his brother, Frankie Gall; sister, Rosanne Bielopotocky and four brothers-in-law – Ed Bielopotocky, Norm Beck, Steve Seweryn and Len Hogglund.
Cherished memories of Don are held by his wife, Audrey; daughter Christal (Darryl) Lacombe; son, AJ Gall and daughter Lori (Derrick) Simard; grandchildren, Cohen Simard, Matty Lacombe, Mason Simard and Alyssa Lacombe; sisters, Susie Beck, Margie Seweryn and Bev Gall; brother Tom (Marie) Gall; brother-in-law Leonard (Carol) de Heus; thirteen nieces and nephews and their families; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Nampa Complex at 10 am on Saturday, September 28, 2019. Arrangements are being made for anyone with mobility challenges.
In Lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Don Gall memorial fund to support the Peace River Health Center Rehabilitation department or a charity of one’s choice.
