BERTRAND, Conrad “Connie”
The family announces with great sorrow his passing in Sudbury, Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of 61 years of Simone (née Gervais) of Val Caron. Son of the late Eugene Bertrand and Blanche (née Dion). Loving father of Monique Weaver (Rick) and André Bertrand. Predeceased by his daughter Louise Bellmore. Dear brother of Rita Huneault (Gaëtan). Predeceased by his siblings, Florian “Bert” (Rita), Leo (Kay), Alcide (Ruth), Thérèse (Preston) and Harvey (Norma). Cherished grandfather of Shawn Bellmore (Auryanna), Stephanie Gilchrist (Darryl), Matt Weaver (Dave), Melanie Desrosiers (Ziyaad), Joey Desrosiers (Jessica), Elisabeth Bertrand (Kevin) and great-grandfather of Khalid, Aisha, Rayyan, Aiden, Zoey, Hunter, Heather, Breeanna, Chloe, Sahara, Scarlett and Shawn.
Connie was a devoted family man who loved to spoil his grandchildren. He showed unconditional love to his wife and family despite many trials and tribulations. Family always came first in his life. He was a kind and selfless man. His favorite saying was “c’est la vie!” and that’s how he lived his life, accepting of everyone. He taught his children how to enjoy life and made sure they could experience all that life has to offer. Connie had many fond memories with his wife’s many siblings and their spouses.
Connie began his career with CP Rail followed by INCO. He had a special love for trains and spent his career working around them. Connie enjoyed giving back to his community through volunteer work and was a member of Knights of Columbus.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel.
