Obituary for
Alonzo Boucher
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Alonzo (Al) Boucher on Aug. 29, 2019 at 89 years of age. Al passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at St. Patrick’s Home. Beloved husband since 1974 of Joann, who predeceased him in 2018. Al and Joann remained united in love until Joann’s passing at St. Patrick’s. Father to Brian Boucher and Sue Ann Boucher (1962-2015), and step-father to Eric Dawson (Lucien Donais). Predeceased by parents Herbert and Rita Boucher of South March and Carp and sister Marguerite Lyon (Gordon). Survived by niece Heather Wilson (Brent) and nephew David Lyon (Maureen). Al worked on aircraft maintenance with the Canadian Armed forces in Edmonton and Trenton. After leaving the military, Al who was always impeccably dressed, worked in clothing retail for Tip Top Tailors and E.R. Fisher Menswear. In retirement, Al devoted himself to his pastimes – golf, cars and his favourite action-adventure writers – and to his dedicated circle of friends.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St. Patrick’s Home – most especially Dr. Uppal, and the nurses and PSWs on Cavan – for the unfailing care and kindness they provided to Al and Joann while they resided there. By request, funeral arrangements are private. Donations in Al’s memory may be made to the St. Patrick’s Home of Ottawa Foundation.
