Lynn Rodgers
1944-2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Lynn Hopey
Rodgers of Smithtown, NB, announces her passing which occurred on
August 31, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Pollett
River, NB, on January 23, 1944, she was the daughter of the late
Charles and Evelyn (Hopey) Lutes.
Lynn pursued studies in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse
in 1965, 3 days prior to getting married. Over the years,
she worked at Kitchener Waterloo Hospital, Sus Regional Health
Centre and ended her career at the Hampton Medical
Centre.
She was an active member and organist at the Smithtown United
Baptist Church, always willing to donate her time and energy wherever
she was needed. She was also a member of the French Village
Ladies Guild and the Women’s Missionary
Society.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She
could often be found at an ice rink watching her granddaughters figure
skating, her grandsons play hockey or at the stock car races cheering
on family.
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert
« Bob » Rodgers of Smithtown, NB; son Steven Rodgers
and his wife Angela of Smithtown, NB; daughter Karen McCully and her
husband Larry of Petitcodiac, NB; cherished grandchildren: Matt
Rodgers, Andrew Rodgers, Charlotte McCully and Sarah McCully; as well
as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lynn was
predeceased by her sisters: Eleanor Renton and Nancy
Cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral
Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where visitation
will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will take place on Thursday,
September 5, 2019 at 11:00am from Hammond Valley Community Church.
Interment will take place at Smithtown United Baptist
Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Lynn may be made to the IWK
Foundation, Romero House or to the charity of the donor’s
