Gerard LeBlanc

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our patriarch, Gerard Joseph LeBlanc, at the Veterans Health Centre in Moncton, NB, on evening of September 26th. He was accompanied by his families through his final journey.
Born on May 9, 1922, to George and Elmire (Allain), he served overseas in England, Belgium, Italy and Normandy during the Second World War. He spoke little of that time, but fondly shares his joy at finding his brother Lionel on the return ship that is said to have been carrying 13,000 soldiers back home.
He then joined the Melanson brothers at Hub Dental Lab, eventually becoming a partner. On September 12th, 1953, he married the love of his life, Ruth (Malenfant). Together, they built a beautiful life, opening their hearts and home to 2 little girls, giving them their forever home and family. In 1965, Dad started the building of his beloved cottage in Robichaud office. This became his (and our) happy place, with many, many fond memories of sandbar swims, corn boils, bonfires, lobster dinners, the odd cocktail and much laughter. A self taught scholar, he was an avid reader of current events, and could discuss of any world issue, often outwitting us with his knowledge.
After Mom’s passing in 1999, Dad was blessed to meet and marry Marina (Cormier-LeBlanc), with whom he shared more laughter and 19 wonderful years. Dad was a proud man, and Marina always made sure he was well fed, well groomed, well dressed and laughing.. Once he became a resident, she visited him daily. He especially enjoyed their little picnics on the swing.
Dad was predeceased by our Mom, by his parents, as well as by 8 brothers and sisters, Rita, Stella, Blair, Lionel, Leo, Ivan, Edouard, and Joseph.
He is lovingly survived by Marina, his daughters Monique and Ginette (John Juha), and grandchildren Laura, Jesse, Luke and Aaron. He is also survived his youngest sister, Maria (Emile Hebert), and by Marina’s children Jaqueline (Gerry Hache), Johanne (Frank Savignac), and Jean Paul Cormier ( Carly), as well as their extended families.
Dad was a kind, gentle and generous soul. We have all been made better by our time with him, and we will love him forever.
A very special thank you to the incredible staff at the Veterans Health Centre, your love and kindness made Dad’s stay, with you a happy one., and it warmed our hearts. We will forever be grateful for the care you gave him, most particularly duringthe final leg of his final journey.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service will be held at St–Therese -de -L’enfant Jesus, 457 Acadie , Dieppe, on November 1, at 10:30 am ,followed by a lunch in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation, or The Veterans Health Centre are much appreciated by the family.
