Obituary of Walter Alfred Elliott
ELLIOTT , Walter Alfred- age 79 of MacPhee’s Corner passed away at home on September 16, 2019.
Born in Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Alfred and Ida (Chase) Elliott.
Walter spent the first years of his life in Stewiacke. As a young boy, Walter moved with his family to MacPhee’s Corner. In 1948 his parents purchased a farm property in MacPhee’s Corner, where Walter worked hard and developed a love for animals and farming. He began working for L.E. Shaw in 1959 and retired in the mid-nineties. On retirement Walter enjoyed working on the farm and looking after his livestock and birds. Despite many health issues over the years, Walter was determined to move forward with his life.
He is survived by his son, Gregory; daughter, Darlene; grandchildren, Tyson and Austin; former wife, Alice Chambers; sisters, Ruth Tataryn and Ella McPhee; brother in-law, Norman McNeil; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Alfreda McPhee and Merlene Demont; brothers, Clifford Chase, Billy Chase; brothers in-law, Paul Tataryn, Cecil McPhee and Buster McPhee; sister in-law, Lorraine Chase.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Friday, September 20th in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, from where a funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, September 21st, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home hospitality area. Interment in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Stewiacke.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or a charity of choice.
