Smith, Ruth Caroline – Peacefully on August 14, 2019, at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington at the age of 93. Beloved wife of William (Bill) for over 67 years. Beloved mother of Barbara (Drew), Janice (Brian), and David. Devoted grandmother of Patrick (Jennifer), Jessica (Brandon), Kasey, Sean (Kazuko), and Andy, and great-grandmother of Claire and Nora. Predeceased by her sister, Florence Berg (Albert), and her brother, George Steiner (Eva). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was born in 1926 in Whitemouth, Manitoba. She graduated as a registered nurse in Winnipeg in 1948. She enjoyed an active lifestyle including many hours of volunteer work in the community and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation at Smith’s Funeral Home, 485 Brant Street, Burlington, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Service of Remembrance at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. For those who wish, donations in memory of Ruth to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of their choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
