Ronald Cooke Gillespie
Ronald C. Gillespie, 93, of
Moncton NB, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family,
on Sunday, August 18th, 2019. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the
late Charles and Margaret (Cooke)
Gillespie.
Ron’s devotion to
his family was first and foremost. He was very involved supporting and
volunteering in each of his children’s activities and he
always encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a man of strong
Catholic faith and was a role model for his family and all who knew
him. He was always very generous with his time and supported many
organizations and associations within the community. He looked for the
best in others and gave the best that he
had.
Ron graduated from St FX
University in 1951 and completed his Bachelor’s degree in
Civil Engineering at TUNS. He went on to work, in various capacities,
at the Canadian National Railway. He retired as the Regional Engineer
of Operations in 1989 after 39 years of service. Following his
retirement, he joined CANAC International as a Consulting Engineer
where he worked for an additional 6 years. Ron was a lifetime member
in the Professional Engineers Association as well as the American
Railway and Maintenance-of-Way
Association.
Ron leaves behind to celebrate
his life, his loving wife of 63 years, Geraldine (Morrison) Gillespie;
daughters, Terry Morrissey (Alf), Kathy Goobie (Matt), Ronda Mann
(Mike) and Pam Wilson (Mark), all of Moncton; sons, Charles Gillespie
