Obituary of Rita Vivian Hale
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Vivian Hale, wife of the late Frederick Ernest Hale, announces her passing, which occurred on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Kings Way Care Centre. Born in Saint John, NB on July 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Muriel (Reagan) Wiggins.
Mrs. Hale was the head of the science department at Simonds High School, both at the Hickey Road location, and at the previous location on Bayside Drive. She was a teacher for over 30 years, and shared her love of science, especially biology, with many students throughout her career. Following retirement, she frequently encountered appreciative past students, even during her stay at Kingsway.
Rita was a talented quilter, and was involved in several quilting guilds at various churches, included St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Rothesay.
Rita will be missed by her sons: Robert “Bob” Hale (Valerie) and Fred Hale Jr.; grandchildren, Stefanie (Kevin), Ashley, Gillian (James) and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Leah, George and Teddy; siblings, Douglas Wiggins (Carole) and Marylou Northrup (Clinton); nieces and nephews, Katherine (Doug), Thomas, Debbie, Donna, Denise and Tom; and her good friends Lil and Don Adamson, to whom the family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all their help and care. In addition to her parents and beloved husband Frederick, Rita was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Wiggins.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM with Words of Remembrance beginning at 3:00 PM.
