Nancy Bennett
1933-2019
Nancy Shirley Bennett, age 86 of New Glasgow, wife of Richard
and daughter of Lt. Col. L.M. and Elizabeth Rhodenizer, passed away
peacefully at home on Aug. 7, 2019.
In Nancy’s words, « Cheerio to my dear
friends. Thank you for the good times. To my wonderful family who
filled my life with love and pride you were my greatest achievement. I
have lived a good life. Thank you. »
After completing high school in New Glasgow, Nancy attended
the Aberdeen School of Nursing where she completed the radiology
program as an x-ray technician. After graduation, she accompanied her
husband to England for two years where he furthered his education as
an Athlone Fellow.
She devoted her life to her family and was a tremendous
source of love and support to her husband. Her greatest joy and
accomplishment in life was the raising of her three fine
sons.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Richard; sons: Paul
(Miriam), Tim (Jacinthe), and Peter (Sandra); grandchildren: Chelsea,
Joshua, Corey, Sarah, and Isabelle; and great-grandchild,
Maisie.
A farewell gathering will be held in the Green Room of the
Glasgow Square Theatre, 155 Riverside Parkway, New Glasgow, on Sunday,
Aug. 11 from 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Committal will take
place at a later date.
Nancy and her husband founded the Sandbar Mental Health
Endowment, a fund of the Aberdeen Health Foundation. Donations to this
fund in her memory would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are
under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New
Glasgow.
