It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Arthur Moore “Jim” on July 28th, 2019 at SLGH, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 86. Jim was born
on the family homestead on Yankee Flats to J.G. Moore and Edna Linton. Jim spent his early years working alongside his father at the family sawmill on Yankee Flats. After a long day working there was always time for hockey. The Moore homestead was a common gathering place to play hockey or have a moccasin dance. All on homemade ice they maintained in their spare time. Jim had a long career as an independent
logging contractor. When it came time for retirement, he spent his time snowmobiling or quadding. Even before the first snowflake fell Jim was preparing for each season. His commitment to his passion encouraged
the construction of Owls Head cabin. Giving outdoor enthusiasts a place to meet, rest and play.
Jim is survived by his children; Glenn, Danny (Linda), Darla, Debbie (Andrew); his sister Louise (Mel), Grandchildren; Mackenzie (Lisa), Brittany (Bernie), Melissa (Pieter), Danica (Bobby), Jacob (Nadine), Jody (Michael), Danny (Jazmin), Austin and Liam, Great grandchildren; Maddison and Taylor (Mackenzie), Sophia (Brittany), Olivia (Melissa) and Dawson (Jake), Nieces Penni (Kim) and Cindi (Gord), also Jim’s companion Francis Laws and of course his faithful feline friend JimBob.
The family would also like to thank the community care nursing team and Dr Heunis, Dr Skubiak and Dr Venter. Also many thanks to the amazing nursing staff at SLGH.
There will be a celebration of life at Silver Creek Hall on August 17th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Eagle Valley Snowmobile Club.
