It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marlene Myrtle Mae (Knox) Marks which occurred at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 30th, 2019. Born 1940, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late John Samuel and Edythe Pearl (Stephens) Knox. Marlene graduated from SJGH School of Radiology in 1959 and worked until 1970 when she left medicine to focus full time on being a mother. She rejoined the Radiology Program at SJRH in 1991, retiring in 2000. She was former President of St. Martins Home & School Association, actively aiding in the establishment of a playground, hot lunch program and dental office, where she worked part time for 11 years. Marlene loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, skiing, skating and she was an avid craftsperson.
Marlene is survived by her loving and devoted husband Harold of 52 years; sons Eric (Heather) and Greg Thomas all of Saint John; sister Shirley McCracken of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren Samuel and Noemi; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Marlene was predeceased by her brother Rev. Thomas Knox.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, August 2nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, August 3rd at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at Mosher Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
