Her family is saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected death of Linda Jean Burg (nee Birmingham), 68 years, of Spalding on Friday, August 16, 2019. Linda was born on June 25, 1951 in Watson, SK to John and Irene (nee Stapleton) Birmingham. She grew up in the Naicam and Spalding areas, attending school in both communities over the years. Following her education, she worked for a short time at the Spalding Hospital and then for a few years as a hairdresser. She then worked for many years for Futuristic Industries in Humboldt at their group homes. On May 1, 1971, Linda married Ken Burg. They lived, farmed and raised their family on their farm near Spalding. Linda enjoyed curling in her younger years. She grew a large vegetable garden and had beautiful flower beds around their yard. The family spent many summer days at their cabin at Marean Lake. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and a good game of Crib. Linda will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 48 years, Ken Burg; their three sons and three grandchildren: Darrell (Alison) Burg of Tisdale; Ryan (Nancy) Burg and family Anthony, Damon and Jude of Edmonton; and Aaron (Alyssa) Burg of Winnipeg; two brothers and one sister: Bobby (Penny) Birmingham, Diana (Wayne) Koenders, and Billy Birmingham; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents John and Irene Birmingham; and her son Anthony Burg, in infancy. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Dovre Lutheran Cemetery in the Spalding district on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Linda’s family invites family and friends to join them following the service at the Spalding Hall from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a Come and Go Celebration of her Life. Memorial Donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
