Julia’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Julia Ann Smith (nee Gavin) announce her peaceful passing on August 20, 2019 at the age of 82. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 63 years, David, their sons: Derek (Carol), Keith, and Terry (Tina), daughters: Lorraine Cardwell and Lisa (Dwight) Saunders, Grandchildren: Heather (Rob) Fulton, Jerry (Grace) Cardwell, Ashley Smith, Rikki (Paul) Boland, Danielle (Kenny) Maher, Adam, Ryan and Kyle Saunders, great-grandchildren: Sylus, Lydon, Kennedy, Gee, JM, Logan, Kegan, Kasey, sisters Beatrice (Willy), Kathlene (Clarence), brother Steve (Marjory) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Julia was predeceased by her parents George and Matilda Gavin, Sister Grace and brother in-law Gar Clarke, niece Linda Whalen and son in-law Jerry Cardwell. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Rd., Corner Brook on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2 pm with the Very Reverend Dean Catherine Short officiating at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral on Main St. in Corner Brook. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
