MacHATTIE, Jessie Elizabeth Age
91, of Loch Katrine, Antigonish
County, passed away peacefully in the presence of her beloved nieces
on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Country Harbour, she was a daughter of
the late William Archibald and Mabel Jane (Irving) Mason. Jessie was a
member of King’s United Church, Loch Katrine and served as
an honorary elder, Sunday school teacher & superintendent,
life member and past president of King’s United Church
Women, member of the committee of stewards and treasurer of the Manse
committee. Jessie was a homemaker who made wonderful meals and kept an
immaculate home where visitors were warmly welcomed. She loved
gardening, and doing crafts especially at Christmas time. She is
survived by sister, Mabel Jane Naugler, Bridgewater; nephews, Jeff
MacGillivray, Rod MacGillivray, Johnnie (Diane) Wilson, Garth
(Shelley) Wilson, nieces, Miranda Power, Cathy MacKinnon (Steve
Rosenthall), Janie (Everett) Dort, sister-in-law, Kathryn MacHattie,
brother-in-law, Burton (Alice) MacHattie, along with wonderful
neighbours and friends whose support allowed Jessie to
remain in her home. She was predeceased by her first husband, John
Stewart; second husband, Sandy MacHattie; sister, Sarah (Arthur)
Wilson; brothers-in-law, Rollie (Leona) and Stubbert MacHattie;
sisters-in-law, Louise (Murray) Williams; Bertha (Gordon) Matheson and
Anna Jean Stewart. At Jessie’s request, there will be no
visitation. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August
27th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Derek Elsworth
officiating. Interment to follow in King’s United Church
Cemetery, Loch Katrine. Memorial donations may be made to
King’s United Church Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements are
under the dignified and compassionate care of the G.W. Giffin Funeral
