Hector Carson Woodin
1925-2019
Hector Carson Woodin – age 93, New Minas, Kings County,
(formerly of Halifax), passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville after a brief illness. Hector was
born on December 31, 1925 in Moser River to George E. and Amy T.
(Matheson) Woodin. A proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather,
Hector moved to the Valley upon his retirement from DND and enjoyed an
active, fun filled retirement together with his wife, M. Irene Woodin,
including 32 years with various square dancing groups in the Valley.
He loved music and dancing, tinkering with anything mechanical and
gardening. Hector was extremely proud of his family and was rarely
apart from his wife Irene, until her passing on March 21, 2019.
Surviving are his children, Daniel, Ronald (Colleen), Lindsay (Alex),
Crystal (Bruce) Warren; grandchildren, Steven (Lisa), Heather, Julie
(Simon) Hodge, Kyle (Rebecca) Warren, Todd (Jackie) Warren and Scott
(Jenn); 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his
wife, Hector was predeceased by brother-in-law, Chesley Earl (Lucy)
Brushett; grandson, Christopher Dean Woodin; sister, Leila (Charles
Jewers) and daughter-in-law, Sandra Woodin. The family would like to
extend their most sincere thanks to the excellent staff at the Valley
Regional Hospital, Dr Nunn as well as those who assisted in his time
of need. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. The funeral service, followed by reception, will be held at
10:30 a.m. Saturday August 10, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will take place at
a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hector’s
memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Regional Hospital
Foundation or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
