HAMMER, Betty (née Reimer)
October 4, 1941 — August 8, 2019
Betty enjoyed a magnificent afternoon of Love, laughter and memories surrounded by her loving family. Betty passed peacefully in her sleep, looking like an angel on August 8, 2019 at 77 years of age. She leaves behind her son Terry (Alexandra) and grandchildren Daniel (Brianna) and Katherine all from Kelowna; daughter Beverley Moore of Kelowna and granddaughters Brianne Moore and Lisa (Rigel) St. Pierre of Toronto; daughter Joanne Pugh (George) and granddaughter Jessica all from Summerland; and her dear dog Lucy who adored her. She is also survived by her siblings Helen Silljer, Eva Watts, Anne Meginbir, John Reimer, and Ric Reimer; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Anna Reimer.
Betty was born in Swift Current Saskatchewan and grew up the 5th of 6 children. When she was married with three children, they relocated to Kelowna, BC in 1968. Her family, gardening, gourmet cooking, interior design/home decorating, & sewing where her passions. She also worked in interior design as a career and she ended her career in accounting. Her most important job though was raising her children.
She will be missed by many for her radiant smile, kind and gentle manner and elegant style. She was a devoted mother who put her family first. She was as beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside. She has forever touched the hearts of those who knew her and were blessed by her loving spirit. She left us at peace and unafraid because of her courage and dignity.
We would like to thank Dr. Larry Bobbin, Dr. Pistawka and all the nurses on 2 South at KGH. Mom and Lucy enjoyed their last year at the Dorchester making friends.
At her request, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Donations to the Arthritis Society of BC, arthritis.ca/campaigns/bc , would continue to honour her life and help others.
