SOLLOWS, Elizabeth “Betty” Joyce – age 89, of the Villa St Joseph du Lac passed away peacefully on August 18, 2019. Born in Yarmouth on August 16,1930 she was a daughter to the late Lorimer and Mary (Cain) MacKenna. Betty was a devoted member of Yarmouth Zion Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society. Betty took training as a beautician and worked at Milton Beauty Shoppe briefly before going to assist her husband, Clinton, in operating Sollows Lodge on Main Street for over 48 years. In her retirement Betty enjoyed travelling to Maine and New Brunswick with her husband. She took an active interest in community affairs and was a regular leader of “News and Views” activities at the Villa. Besides her parents Betty was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Mae and special aunt and uncle, Effie and John Churchill as well as special cousin, Billy Churchill. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Clinton; cousin, Charlotte Wood and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Tuesday August 20, 2019 from 7-9 P.M. A funeral service will be held Thursday August 22 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.D “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will follow in Chebogue Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation, Villa St Joseph du Lac, or a charity of your choice.
