The family of Edward Murphy sadly announce his peaceful passing at the Heritage Square Retirement Centre, Conception Bay South at the age of 85.
Edward was born February 25, 1934 in Little Bay, Placentia Bay, however, he raised his family and made his home in Kippens, NL for over 62 years, until 2018 when he and Thelma relocated to the east coast.
Edward was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth, father Alphonsus, brothers John, Ingnatius, and Matthew, sister Monnie, daughter-in-law Ann and beloved son Andrew.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories are Thelma, his beloved wife of 63 years; four daughters: Deborah Murphy, Kingston NS; Betty (Brian)Turpin, Peace River, AB; Monica Murphy, Brigus Junction, NL; and Marsha (David) Hiscock, Mount Pearl, NL. Poppy cherished and was adored by his 11 grandchildren – Andrew (Melanie) Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Brittany (Adam) Wilcox, Edward (Laurie) Hann, Renee (Brad) Beardsley, Kyle Turpin, Tara (Cody) McIntyre, Kristina Murphy, Benjamin Hiscock, Natalie Hiscock, and Sarah Hiscock, and his 19 precious great grandchildren.
Edward will be missed and remembered by his siblings: James, Phonse (Margaret), Eugene, Maggie Kilgore, and Betty (Bart) Walsh, all of Little Bay and Thomas (Velma), Carman, Manitoba. Also leaving to mourn Edward are numerous nieces, nephews and their families, and a wide circle of friends.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will take place at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place Monday, August 26, 2019 at 10:00 am from St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street, Stephenville. Inurnment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of the Heritage Square Personal Care Home for their exemplary care of and compassion toward Dad during his time at the home.
